Executive Committee Responsibilities

CMG Australia executive committee constitutes of professionals who volunteer their time towards furthering the mission and vision of CMG Australia. The CMG Australia executive committee is focused on serving its members and laying the foundations for a strong professional organization which has the interests of its members at heart including the interests of the society it exists in.

The current CMG Australia Executive Committee comprises of the following positions:

  • Treasurer
  • Events & Logistics Lead
  • Vice President
  • President   
  • Regional Vice President (One for each region)

A summary of responsibilities for each of these positions is provided below:

  • Treasurer – The treasurer within the CMGA Executive Committee is akin to the CFO within a commercial or Not For Profit organization. The Treasurer’s responsibilities within CMG Australia include:
    • Drafting a budget for the Financial Year based on the agreed initiatives
    • Taking ownership of the overall budget for the various agreed initiatives for the current financial year
    • Working with the Events Lead on on designing initiatives in line with the available budget
    • Providing oversight from a financial perspective on all expenditures incurred during the financial year
    • Maintaining book of accounts and coordinating filing of Returns on an annual basis
    • Working closely with the President and Vice President on ensuring appropriate financial controls are in place
  • Events & Logistics Lead – The Events & Logistics Lead is responsible for all logistics involved with each of CMGA’s events. The responsibilities for the Events & Logistics Lead include:
    • Design and maintain the CMGA Meetup page
    • Responsible for creating CMGA Meetup invites for the various regions
    • Responsible for working closely with the exec committee to confirm speakers and logistics for all Meetups
    • Responsible for working closely with CMGA Partners to confirm speakers and logistics for all Meetups
    • Responsible for working closely with the various Regional Vice Presidents and coordinating event logistics
    • Responsible for owning & driving all the logistics around CMGA’s events
    • Responsible for calling out any additional support that might be required to manage CMGA events
  • Vice President – The Vice President works closely with the President and support the President on translating his vision and mission for the organziation. The Vice President also has responsibilities in the following areas:
    • Responsible for writing up articles and helping publicize upcoming meetups through use of Social Media
    • Responsible for working with the vendors and promoting upcoming meetups through use of Social Media
    • Responsible for writing up of Minutes Of the Meeting, posting them to the CMGA website and promoting events through use of Social Media
    • Responsible for supporting building and maintaining strong relationships with each of our partners
    • Responsible for advocating CMGA, its values and its mission through constant networking
    • Responsible for supporting building of an strong ecosystem where our partners, professional members, academia, researchers and students can all come together with the objective of helping us all build local capability that’s globally competitive
    • Responsible for representing CMGA at all formal occasions and functions in lieu of the President
    • Responsible for helping out with spotting opportunities for learning and fostering relationships with other similar organizations across Australia allowing for cross pollination, collaboration, sharing of ideas, thoughts and learning
    • Responsible for providing leadership across each of the initiatives for the given financial year
    • Responsible for working closely with the Events & Logistics lead and providing oversight on each of the events
    • Responsible for working closely with the Treasurer and providing oversight on the finance and accounts
    • Responsible for supporting the Regional Vice President in promoting CMGA’s activities across the various regions
  • President – The President of CMGA is akin to the CEO of a commercial or Not For Profit Organization. The CEO makes bold decisions, looks into the future and treads through un-chartered territory. The responsibilities of the President include:
    • Responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with each of our partners
    • Responsible for advocating CMGA, its values and its mission through constant networking
    • Responsible for building a strong ecosystem where our partners, professional members, academia, researchers and students can all come together with the objective of helping us all build local capability that’s globally competitive
    • Responsible for representing CMGA at all formal occasions and functions
    • Responsible for spotting opportunities for learning and fostering relationships with other similar organizations across Australia allowing for cross pollination, collaboration, sharing of ideas, thoughts and learning
    • Responsible for putting together list of initiatives for the financial year and prioritization of initiatives based on areas of focus
    • Responsible for providing leadership across each of the initiatives for the given financial year
    • Responsible for working closely with the Events & Logistics lead and providing oversight on each of the events
    • Responsible for working closely with the Treasurer and providing oversight on the finance and accounts
    • Responsible for supporting the Regional Vice President in promoting CMGA’s activities across the various regions
  • Regional Vice President – The regional Vice Presidents are responsible for leading the charge for CMGA in the various regions. The responsibilities for the various regional Vice Presidents include:
    • Responsible for working closely with the Events Lead on creating the relevant Meetup invites
    • Responsible for working closely with the Events Lead on writing up articles and helping publicize upcoming meetups through use of Social Media
    • Responsible for working closely with the Events Lead and working with the vendors and promoting upcoming meetups through use of Social Media
    • Responsible for working closely with the Events Lead and writing up of Minutes Of the Meeting, posting them to the CMGA website and promoting events through use of Social Media
    • Responsible for overall logistics of regional events
    • Responsible for working closely with the President and Vice President on translating the vision, mission through agreed initiatives
    • Responsible for reporting on a regular basis and working closely with the Exec Committee on managing partner, member, academic and research relationships
    • Responsible for overall growth of CMGA in the given region

We are always on the lookout for individuals with strong experience and relevant current industry experience in any of the areas across SPE (Systems Performance Engineering) to assist with building a strong professional organization. If you are keen to volunteer your services and have:

  • At-least a decade of experience in any of the Systems Performance Engineering disciplines
  • Have a keen interest in any of the Systems Performance Engineering related disciplines
  • Are passionate about what you do in Systems Performance Engineering
  • Are willing to devote time on a weekly basis towards building a professional body that promotes the profession of Systems Performance Engineering across ANZ
